Representatives of the Finnish Refugee Council have chosen 26-year-old Afghan-born Nasima Razmyar as Female Refugee of the Year for International Women’s Day (March 8). Razmyar is involved in work to prevent “honour killings” and racism.
Myllysilta, a bridge over the Aura River in the southwestern Finnish city of Turku, was closed on March 6 after being declared structurally unsound. The bridge's central section is sagging by about one metre and its main supports are bent.
Team Skädäm throw snowballs during the 2010 Snowbattle Finnish Championship on March 6. The competition has been held for 15 years in the northern town of Kemijärvi, but took place in Helsinki this year.
